It's the music Punk came to destroy but for some reason I'm on a 70's MOR trip lately. You know those songs they used to play on the radio years ago before it became all scientifically formated. I'm doing a compilation. So far it's

Sweet - Love is like oxygen
Al Stewart - The year of the cat
Gilbert O'Sullivan - Alone again, naturally & Claire
Snowy White - Bird of Paradise (released in 1983 but it fits the vibe)
The Motors - Airport
Gallagher & Lyle - Breakaway & Stay with you
Brian Protheroe - Pinball
Gerry Rafferty - Baker Street (of course)

Any Suggestions?

There's a fine line with this shit so no Chicago or REO Speedwagon allowed

70s Chicago vs 80s power ballad Chicago = totally different sounding bands. The former should not be ignored for the sins of the latter.

Would the Db's fit on this list? maybe they are more power pop and this is actually from the early 80's, but anyways worth a post

Got a surprise especially for you,
Something that both of us have always wanted to do.
We've waited so long, waited so long.
We've waited so long, waited so long.

I'm gonna take you on a trip so far from here,
I've got two tickets in my pocket, now baby, we're gonna disappear.
We've waited so long, waited so long.
We've waited so long, waited so long.

I've got two tickets to paradise,
Won't you pack your bags, we'll leave tonight,
I've got two tickets to paradise,
I've got two tickets to paradise.

oh-oh-uh-oh-uh-oh-uh-oh-uh-oh-uh-oh
oh-oh-uh-oh-uh-oh-uh-oh-uh-oh-uh-oh

I have found the most repressed 70's moment of all time:

Tony Blackburn in an awkward position introducing Top of the Pops dancers' Pan's People dancing to a song by an ex-porn star describing her old job blandly:
