Club is run by fools. Agree 100% that they should have got rid of him last summer. He took over with them in 17th and finished with them there.

He got the team, and the rest of the club I suppose, to an emotional peak that helped them stay up but I don't think he's got much in the way of coaching.
Rumours going around that Everton tried to sign many different players but player after player turned them down

East Berlin's fan owned club Union Berlin have gone top of the Bundesliga (they were also top earlier in season)
it's only their 5th season in the Bundesliga. Only 6 points between the top 6 - Bayern who are still to play on Sunday, are blowing it big time with three draws in recent matches

Billy Thomson (1958 - 6 February 2023)
Scottish goalkeeper who won 7 caps while with St. Mirren in early 1980's.
Thomson starred in Dundee United's run to the UEFA Cup Final in 1987 which included beating Barcelona home and away (listened to it on radio). He later had a long career as a goalkeeping coach.

Thinking about Man City being charged with 100 odd counts of breaking financial fair play rules since 2009.
So potentially Milner has to rescind 2011-12 and 2013-14 medals but he would still have won the PL three times as he would get 2018-19 and 2021-22 medals.
Meanwhile Jordan Henderson would be a four time PL winner.

City's lawyers won't let it happen through

The PL might not want it because they'll look like dicks.
I am sure you're right - I just thought Milner's situation would be strangely funny though!

City have to be sanctioned somehow but taking away titles is highly unlikely.
Going forward this can't happen again.

The charges are coming from the Premier League organization though, right? Someone on one of the football podcasts was suggesting that the PL are doing this now because there's a threat of greater UK government oversight of football finances and the PL need to be seen to be taking an active stance against 'financial doping' etc.. I'll be amazed if they end up with anything beyond a fine and small points deduction after Man City unleash an army of these lads:

Didn't City already beat a rap on this exact thing?

Yeah the previous case was from UEFA.

but the criteria is different with the PL. apparently hacked or leaked material can be used against City but in the UEFA case nothing illegally obtained was allowed.

again legal costs are the problem - how much would you have to spend to fight the tens of millions City would be prepared to spend on their defense.

Cyclist Chris Froome should have been banned for doping using excessive amounts of asthma medication salbutamol - other riders were banned for lower levels.
But Team Sky had far more money to spend on lawyers than the UCI and after about 8/9 months of wrangling they little option but to let Froome off as they couldn't afford to take on Sky.

in 2006 it cost about 3/4 of the UCI annual anti doping budget of circa 2 million to get one rider banned.
(Floyd Landis had won the Tour de France but was caught doping on third last stage several days later).

Friedel Lutz (1939 - 9 February 2023)
Defender Lutz spent his entire pro career at 1957-73 at Eintracht Frankfurt apart one season at 1860 Munich (66-67). He played in Frankfurt's only ever German Championship winning team in 1958-59 and their 1960 European Cup Final defeat to Real Madrid.
Lutz earned 12 caps; his last cap was in the 1966 World Cup semi final win over the USSR.

Marcos (1959 - 9 February 2023)
Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Spain winger and later a manager.
Son of Real 50's star Marquitos and father of Marcos Alonso (Barca, ex Chelsea)
Marcos scored the winner in the 1983 Copa del Rey Final for Barca against Real Madrid and won the 1985 Liga title under Venables (Barca's only title between 1975 and 1991).
in the 1986 European Cup Final in Seville, Marcos one of the four Barca players whose penalties were saved by Helmuth Duckadam.
Marcos won 22 caps from 1981-85 but never played in a tournament despite being in the Euro '84 runners up squad.
Marcos later managed Atletico, Zaragoza and Sevilla among others.

the brilliant Maradona is kicked around throughout.
4:58 Marcos hits the post.
5:04 hilarious GIVE AWAY equaliser for Real.
9:20 onwards Marcos heads the winner with seconds left.

Also spare a thought for former Syrian international Nader Joukhadar (1977 - 6 February 2023) who was killed in the earthquake as was Turkish player Ahmet Uyep Turkaslan (b. 1994)
While former Austrian international Volkan Kahraman (b. 1979) was the victim in a murder suicide.

The report on the 2022 CL Final was published last night and there has been an apology to fans, particularly Liverpool supporters, after everything they said was upheld.
Absolutely damning on every level of UEFA, match organisation, the police, the French government's response, the numerous lies told;
This had almost happened multiple times before at the Stade de France and the stadium area CCTV was deleted as no authorities asked for it to be retained. Aleksander Ceferin wouldn't speak to the panel personally.
21 recommendations made and with the rugby WC and the Olympics coming up they need to taken extremely seriously.
The line that stood out for me was:
''It is remarkable no one lost their life''.

Excellent summing up by David Conn. please read this
there's also three more related reports on The Guardian website.

Christian Atsu (1992 - February 2023)
Christian remains were finally located in Antayka, Turkey nearly two weeks after the earthquake.
The former Porto (2012-13 champion), Everton, Bournemouth, Newcastle and Hatayspor winger was also on the books of Chelsea who loaned him out without playing a game for the Blues.
Christian played in the 2014 World Cup and was involved in four AFCON tournaments with Ghana, earning 65 caps (9 goals).
He is survived by his German wife and their two children.

Ilario Castagner (1940 - 18 February 2023)
Perugia, Lazio, AC Milan, Inter and Ascoli manager who worked with Liam Brady, Joe Jordan and Luther Blissett.
Castagner made his name in 1978-79 when he took Perugia to second place in Serie A. going the season unbeaten:
P30 W11 D19 (!!!!!)

Super bit of opportunism from Seamus Coleman the other day, wasn't it?

Terrible positioning from Meslier the keeper but Coleman knew what he was doing.

Today PSG were losing to Lille with a few minutes remaining but Mbappe equalised and Messi made it 4-3 in the 5th minute of injury time.

Yesterday Bayern lost 3-2 at 'Gladback after an early sending off. Thurman Jr. got the winner.
At the moment (k.o. 2:30) Union Berlin are at home to Schalke. A win would put them 2 points clear at the top.

Napoli are almost gone into another dimension at the top of Serie A at this stage.

Napoli forever

The biggest problem with that Coleman goal is that he should have been doing shit like that for the last 10 years. Maybe he was infected by the Trapp defensive mentality.
I was at the Wales game in 2017 where his thigh was snapped nearly in half by that horrible tackle, I think he's spent the whole latter part of his career recovering from that really, probably never quite the same player.. Dyche seems to want him to get forward more which is good.
