in the last minute or so of Sky's 'Soccer Saturday' (sic) broadcast yesterday for the final day of the PL, Jeff Stelling mentioned the PL odds for the big clubs for next season.
City odds on, LFC 2/1, out to Man Utd at 22/1 but then Jeff asked Paul Merson what he thought and quickly had to add ''I know you don't gamble anymore''.
Merse looked uncomfortable for the closing seconds of the show and it confirmed how hard he must find working in an environment where advertising gambling is a big part of the deal inc. Jeff Stelling and some of his colleagues making gambling adverts themselves.

really exciting final day in the PL
didn't expect City to have such a such huge wobble on Sunday. Villa gave it a real go.

the stewards and security staff at MCFC were by the best organsed to deal with a pitch invasion but couldn't keep Martinez the Villa keeper safe today and he was hit in the head twice.

They couldn't protect KDB from getting slapped in the head repeatedly by some over enthusiastic fan who just wanted to touch him.

I was watching it and thinking, "what are you even doing????"

it has been well documented by journalists and TV that the organisation to get Liverpool fans into the Stade de France was an inadequate and dangerous shambles.
there was a least one bottleneck and Liverpool fans were tightly penned in for hours outside not knowing what was going on. apparently the French police sprayed tear gas at a few local lads near by trying to jump the fence. the gas hit hundreds of people including Liverpool fans, French kids and members of the press.

Andy Robertson said someone who got one of his tickets was told it was fake at the entrance.

match organisers blaming the fans is easy and cowardly (the fans showed huge restraint fortunately).
we've seen this too many times.

The local folks in St Denis must quite rightly be shit scared of the police. they have huge very expensive events happening at their local stadium that they rarely get into.

In a twelve year spell at West Brom from 1960-72, Bobby Hope played over 400 matches and won the 1966 League Cup and 1968 FA Cup. Hope was a midfield general whose 2 caps for Scotland was increased to 7 in 2021 after an SFA selection tour he played in was upgraded to full cap status.

Noel Campbell (1949 - 13 June 2022)
St Pat's, Fortuna Koln and Rovers midfielder who won 11 caps.
Noel played for Fortuna Koln from 1971-79. He was a key figure in the Fortuna side that won promotion in 1973 and played 29 matches in 1973-74, Fortuna's only season in the Bundesliga.
A recent book on Irish players on the continent featured Noel (Emerald Exiles by Barry Landy).

Until the 60's Dundee Utd were a small lower division outfit, with Dundee attracting 3/4 of support in the city.
Danish and Swedish footballers had no pro leagues in their countries, so some Scottish clubs began to import a lot of them (Kilmarnock in particular). Unfortunately when a Dane went abroad, as a pro they wouldn't be considered for the national team who were all amateurs.
Danish striker Finn Dossing was one of the best imports and his goals set Dundee Utd on their way in the mid 60's but he never won a full cap.
