I don't really read many reviews really, but I think she's incredible and have loved her for a long time, so so so happy with this album, has felt like a LONG time coming. second listen through, sobs and bops. fallen alien is my fave so far.
Yeah I dunno, the whole doing a sponsored by google advert = BLACK FUTURISM SECOND COMING OF SUN RA BY WAY BY WAY OF A TED TALK stuff I find very off-putting. If people want to take her seriously as Art with a capital A that's cool by me but then I expect THE DISCOURSE to be on a similarly high plane, not just buying into the press release.
For a good few years Fire! Orchestra is a name I had been meaning to check out.
Heard a brief interview with one of their vocalists on Stuart Maconie's Freakzone last night and finally delved in afterwards. Delved into their most recent album anyway, Arrival. It's fantastic. Contains out there jazzy moments that would appeal to fans of Cinematic Orchestra and Portishead maybe. Vocals on it are really great. Can't recommend enough.
