2018 albums worth a listen..... (1 Viewer)

Also, the All-City Quare Groove comp is stupendous. draws a totally different picture of Irish music in the late 70s/80s than the hairy rockers we (well, I) normally think of...

I've only given it a quick listen and have kind of gone off them! Although I think it would probably sound great live.
I haven't actually listened to it yet myself but I refuse to EVER go off them, i've been in since the Angelica days and i'm not leaving now.

BBC6 are playing them to death
It's probably a bit shouty for a B&S fop like yourself.

Look forward to going back and listening to all your recommendations above.

Any Erased Tapes record label heads in the house?

Tracey Thorn's new album, Record, is on my list and also looking forward to David Byrne's new one, American Utopia.

The TT album didn't do much for me on first listen. Actually turned it off after 5 songs. Her voice sounds a whole lot different from her ETBTG days. But, I'll return to it cos I do like her a
lot.

Listened to the new Gwenno album earlier. Some definite high points but a bit laborious at times too.

Currently checking this out. Heartbreaking, as you'd expect

I'm going to nab the Tracey this week hopefully; I haven't seen it anywhere mind you. But yeah she is very likeable.

Sooooooooo Goooooood

trio record with tony buck (the necks) on drums and cymbals and mike majkowski on bass. a jazzier take on the ethiopique sound with mergia on accordion, piano (not unlike emahoy tsegué-maryam guèbrou's solo piano sound) and keyboards.

perfect saturday morning music.
