couple of new releases featured on stuart maconie's freak zone over last couple of weeks.

oliver Coates - upstepping. fucking phenomenal listen. majority of LP made from cello. take arthur russell, four tet, burial. throw it altogether (very lazy description but it's pretty on the money for the sound). amazing album. dude plays cello for the london contemporary orchestra and featured on scores for there will be blood and under the skin (fucking love that score).

i checked this out. people were making sun city girls references in relation to it (there's a tune called 'sun city creeps') but i don't hear it.

the self-titled sunwatchers album on castle face, on the other hand - that scratches the s.c.g. itch every time. shades of laddio bollocko, getatchew mekuria too.
