What Book Did You Read Last Night???

Oh God I hated Rules of Attraction. American Psycho is amazingly written but so fucked up I couldn't stomach it and gave up half way through. I must tackle it again some time. Currently reading: (I love Phillip Pullman but that quote is the worst quote I've ever seen on the cover of a book!)

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

ooh that looks good. Coincidentally enough, it mentions John Wyndham in the wiki page. I just went and wiki'd the book Chocky, which I remembered from when I was a kid, and discovered it was written by Wyndham. Happy coincidence. Did anyone else read Chocky? Scared the shite out of me as a...

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

I read a book a few years ago called The Confessions of Max Tivoli by a guy called Andrew Sean Greer, and it has to be based on the Fitzgerald story - although it says on his (sooo reliable) wiki page "The story of a man aging backwards, it was inspired by the Bob Dylan song My Back Pages...

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

Just 'cos you don't like some of the writers doesn't mean they're all bad - shouldn't it be about how good the writer is rather than what sex they are? Plus, sometimes the writers that are touted as the best might not be the ones that you connect with. :)

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

great stuff, I'll pop in there at the weekend! nice one. There's always great stuff in that shop. I have to confess I never buy graphic novels, but I'd love to see the New York Trilogy in graphic form. I didn't think Brooklyn Follies was rubbish - it wasn't his best, it was sort of him...

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

I've never seen them in graphic form, wow! I must keep an eye out. I've bought nearly all my copies of his books in Charlie Byrne's in Galway - they have them so cheap. great suggestions there! :) One thing about him that does slightly irritate me is how similar the protagonist is in about...

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

I can't flipping find that anywhere! I've read most of his books, I'm trying to get them all read and for some reason his books are the only ones I can stick with at the moment. That said, I never got to the end of Mr Vertigo, for which I should be ashamed because I loved it! Bizarre. If you...

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

'The Invention of Solitude' by Paul Auster. The second half was sad but really interesting, and it's written in the first person. Just starting the second half now, it's more of a novel style and a little more obtuse.

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

I'm starting to feel like I wasted €7....after reading John Peel's autobiog at Christmas I feel like I've been too spoiled. That was a magnificent book. I'm the same as you muffin - always a big list to plough through, but I rarely find the time these days :(
