I get the appeal. Its great at times but I lost interest too many times and by the end I was just plain lost.

This book was a chore in the end. I got through the first 400 pages in the same time that it took me to get through the last 150. He is a master of using a thousand words to say something that can be said in 10. Currently reading Amulet by Roberto Bolano. Picked it up for 1 euro in a bookshop...

I started reading 'Fairy Tale' by Stephen King while on my holliers last week. the opening 160 pages are great. King at his best. I sense its going to start getting weird now. And not necessarily in a good way. Will see.

this is a lovely little read. Its short and very easy going. But he's funny and interesting. One of the more enjoyable memoirs that I've read in a while.

I'm lukewarm about Wilco, at best, and I did give it a good go to get into them. But this is a lovely read. His style of writing is very warm and free-flowing. And he some good old tales to tell too. Only 50 pages in but loving it.

Reading this Its grand. I like the Kinks so its grand. If I didn't I think I'd find it boring.

yeah, Blood Meridian. Its Cormac McCarthy, right? I read No Country and The Road and I thought both were grand but grim.

Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart. About 50 pages in and its a great read, if a bit heavy going in terms of the subject matter. There's a lot of reading in it so its gonna take a while to get through.

Juno Loves Legs. Almost finished it. Its a quick enough read. Very good at times, but something a bit off about a male author writing a book about a female teenager.

Almost finished John Ilsley's memoir, 'my life in dire straits'. Its a bit meh but I like Dire Straits so wanted to read it anyway. Gonna read Debbie Harry's next.

I finished out 2 books that I started during the summer but parked. Billy Summers by Stephen King. Its ok. A good story that could have been told in 200 pages but he told it in 500. Its grand like but I got lost more times while reading it cos of all the tangents he went off on. Pete Paphides...

All Quiet on the Western Front by Remarque. Picked it up in Books Upstairs when I was looking for travel reading. Its a good read, if a bit grim. I've been reading around it too, having got wind of it being somewhat controversial in its time. It made me a bit uneasy as it was humanising German...

downgrading my review from 'grand' to 'not great'. Given what we already know about her, I figured it'd be more interesting. Its fine to pass the time, and you'd get through it in a single sitting if you were so inclined, but I guess I expected more. A lot of mad stuff in her life was played...
