This book was a chore in the end. I got through the first 400 pages in the same time that it took me to get through the last 150. I'm lukewarm about Wilco, at best, and I did give it a good go to get into them. But this is a lovely read. His style of writing is very warm and free-flowing. And he some good old tales to tell too. Only 50 pages in but loving it.

Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart. About 50 pages in and its a great read, if a bit heavy going in terms of the subject matter. There's a lot of reading in it so its gonna take a while to get through.

Juno Loves Legs. Almost finished it. Its a quick enough read. Very good at times, but something a bit off about a male author writing a book about a female teenager.

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

I finished out 2 books that I started during the summer but parked. Billy Summers by Stephen King. Its ok. A good story that could have been told in 200 pages but he told it in 500. All Quiet on the Western Front by Remarque. Picked it up in Books Upstairs when I was looking for travel reading. Its a good read, if a bit grim. I've been reading around it too, having got wind of it being somewhat controversial in its time. It made me a bit uneasy as it was humanising German...

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

downgrading my review from 'grand' to 'not great'. Given what we already know about her, I figured it'd be more interesting. Its fine to pass the time, and you'd get through it in a single sitting if you were so inclined, but I guess I expected more. A lot of mad stuff in her life was played...
