there's a little plastic guard to protect the needle, and he tried to slide it on from the front, but it actually slides on from below. there's a certain irony in breaking the needle with the device designed to protect the needle.

there's a rega planar 3 (with a glitchy tonearm admittedly) on adverts asking €160. i think this is about one fifth what they cost new?

am still considering getting a turntable. turntable plus phono stage would set me back maybe 400 quid, but that's gonna be dwarfed by the actual cost of vinyl. and that's on top of the probable cost of replacing my headphones too, which won't be cheap. why do things cost money?

there's a new hifi place on wicklow street, just a few yards up from tower. my problem is that my amp has no phono stage, so i'd have to buy one of those too if i wanted a turntable.
