I *think* my audio-nerd guy told me that the elys2 is a repackaged version of an Audio Technica one which is much cheaper i.e. they are made in the same factory and are exactly the same but are just branded differently. Make of that what you will.

Took a big risk yesterday by installing the new stylus/cartridge I bought online. Figured out how to do it from Youtube. Fitted the cartridge, balanced the tone arm, set the tracking, aligned the cartridge and ....... stylus kept sliding outwards at random points when playing record. Realised...

Got one Project debut turntable that I don't need anymore. See above. It's the first one. Needs a power cable. You need an amp with a phono input for it. I think it works fine but haven't tried it in a while. Anyone want it? For free if you can collect from D8. @travispickle ?

Unless the amp has a phono input in which case it's already got a pre-amp in it. In which case it's turntable -> amp -> speakers

Some Audio-Technica one (AT 110e). Yer man recommended it. Was pretty cheap (80 quid + 20 or so for a Headshell(?). He told me that the Elys(?) ones are just rebranded AT cartridges and not worth the money (even made in the same factory). There was some other well known brand he mentioned that...

270 on the repair and then add a cartridge to that. More than I had hoped but I'm going to end up with a souped up Planar 3 with a much better tone arm, and upgraded cartridge, and all set up/tracked/whatever properly so I'm happy enough.

Got a call from the doctor at the HiFi Hospital. It seems there are more things wrong with this than I thought ...... on a more positive note he is very excited about the arm. It turns out it's not the standard one but has been upgraded to something very fancy. Still waiting to hear the damage...

Yes, I think so. I run it into the Aux port on my amp so I suppose if the speaker has one then that's basically the same thing. I'll let you know when I'm looking to offload it...
