You could have. Mrs. egg_ is just (hopefully) coming out of yet another bout of weakness and occasional immobility, 4 years after she first had covid. Thought she was 100% better at the end of the summer last year (and at the end of summer 2022), but nope

I'd say that's for people who have more "normal" diets than you, and get fats in other ways. Doubling your olive oil intake to 3tbsp per day isn't going to do you any harm, and might do you some good I dunno how many carbs I eat a day tbh, but I aim for 25g protein with every meal.

Oh and fwiw - fat intake is required for production of hormones, and protein intake is required to maintain your muscles and stop you getting frail as you age

... also your fat intake is very low. 1.5 tbsp of olive oil is 21g fat. It's hard to get a definite answer on the minimum amount of fat required per day, but this article says 0.25g per pound of bodyweight. If you really are 12 stone that's 168 pounds which means you're only getting around half...

@nuke terrorist - just a comment on your food intake from above. Flahavan's organic jumbo oats are 11% protein (according to the packet in my kitchen) so your 250g of gives you 27.g of protein Protein content of canned chickpeas varies a lot - in my kitchen there's a can from Tesco that's 6.7%...

Uke is much easier than guitar fyi - nylon strings are easier on the fingers, only 4 strings so the chords are easier, and it's quieter so if you're playing with people it's not as obvious when you go wrong. You'd get one for under 50 quid, and you can progress to guitar if you like it enough

On the music front @Deadmanposting ... saw a TED talk from a guy who'd gone from zero to being able play a song in public on ukulele in 20 hours. Obvs getting good at something takes a lot longer, but getting good enough to enjoy playing uke really takes v little time

We did salsa dancing for a few years - way more fun than a gym, and also decent exercise. No lessons near us these days though

I've been thinking about joining the local tennis club. Playing a game seems like much more fun than "excercise", I'm just a bit afraid I'd injure myself seeing as I haven't played a game of tennis since I was a teen

Since I got this sports watch I've been tracking stuff as "training" that isn't really training - housework and garden stuff Turns out hoovering and mopping the house (at high speed in between meetings so I'd get it done in half an hour) has a higher "cardio load" than a 5km run

I often can't tell if I'm tired or thirsty. Sometimes I'm sitting at the desk in the afternoon thinking "I'm so wrecked, this is shit" and then think "oh hang on maybe I'm thirsty" then drink a load of water and I'm grand

I dunno if this sleep measurement thing on my watch is any use at all. It says my "sleep charge" was "much above usual" last night ... but after doing the school run I went back to bed and slept for 2 more hours, and it didn't register that at all. How could I have had a very good sleep, and...

It's very easy to give yourself tendonitis with pullups, be careful! I gave myself golfer's elbow, very fucking painful and took 6 months to heal

Hard relate, as the Yanks say - though over the last few years I've been taking v deliberate steps to reduce that percentage (and also I find too many beers makes that worse rather than better)

I'm actually amazed at the main all-cause-mortality versus alcohol graph in that paper - not the dip at around 1 drink per day, but the fact that the risk ratio for 7 drinks per day is only 1.1

You hear a lot of different positions on this on the internet, but here's a paper with a study of nearly a million Americans over 12 years that suggests otherwise Alcohol consumption and all-cause and cause-specific mortality among US adults: prospective cohort study - BMC Medicine This...
