I need a bit of advice. I have a Toyota Yaris that is rather... Scuffed. The garage says its going to cost 700 quid or more to fix this up. The car itself is only worth a grand. I'm nervous it won't pass the NCT in this state or that I'm just going to have to keep pouring money into repairs...

100 quid to fix the worn bushes. Have to take a day off work to go to the garage, wait an hour in the cold and then come back. Its grand and I shouldn't complain but....Ugggggggh.

That's a great relief to hear! Cheer and @ann post too. The main pain in the arse is taking the time off work to go out to the mechanic.

Got my car insurance for a grand which is an actual bargain for me.

Got a new tyre, service, new spark plugs, oil change and pre-NCT check in a place out by cold winters for 250. Not...too bad?

Can anyone recommend a decent mechanic who will help me pass my NCT and won't charge through his arse? I need a new tyre and a general service. Car is rattling in neutral.
