    Coffee

The coffee is good, I approve of how he runs his business, it is a bit on the pricey side but I don't have too many other indulgences, hate going to the pub etc.

I use a v60 pour over yoke, you probably need a special pouring kettle to work one of those or a chemex properly. I like the results though, but I'm also into "the ritual" now in the same way that boring stoners love to roll joints. As Dudley says, the coffee doesn't always stay hot for long...

    Coffee

A blade grinder doesn't actually grind the beans so much as chop it, which apparently is bad. I quite like the ritual involved in hand grinding beans, probably much in the same way some people enjoy doing rollies.

Get a burr hand grinder instead of an electric one with a blade. you could get an electric burr one but they are mad expensive

    Coffee

For this reason it can be handy to have ones of different sizes. eg a single serve one and a larger one. Or just drink a massive cup of coffee that you make from the big one

    Coffee

You can get good coffee out of them but I've always found getting good results from it to be a bit of a rigmarole requiring a lot of monitoring.

    Coffee

I just had a cup of the colombian from the recent coffee club order (it was delivered last week but he advised to wait a week from roasting to try it) and it;s fantastic. Gary is basically the reason I've become an insufferable coffee bore. I can't remember who it's going to but he told me a...

    Coffee

Obviously people get to like what they like but generally I'd say that good beans brewed well aren't bitter.

It stops your coffee tasting of coffee and makes it taste of milk.

    Coffee

That's mostly my technique (when I make it for my girlfriend because she hates the "notes of black forest gateaux" stuff I grind myself) and it's ... alright. Still vastly prefer it out of the hario v-60. I wouldn't pay much attention to anyone's coffee making guide if they're putting milk...

    Coffee

Seeing as we're comparing hario recipes. I use 20 g of coffee (by the way, we're all rinsing the filter first right?, to get some of the bleach out of the paper) I pour 40 g of water and wait for 40 seconds for the bloom, and then top it off in one pour to 240g until it's done, with fresh...

    Coffee

The aeropress is a piece of piss to use, and the coffee out of it is good. It probably isn't worth the extra effort for me to use the hario (though I do like it) but I do anyway, like a sucker.

    Coffee

Yeah I used one for a couple of years and quite liked what I got from it but I eventually moved on to ... A hario v60, I like the coffee out of it so much that I order a filter coffee now when I'm in a fancy coffee place like clement and pekoe. You really need to get a narrow spouted...

    Coffee

You can get decent coffee out of a moka pot, but it takes an awful lot of extra work and attention to do it compared to just making some sort of coffee. I use a v60 at home it's great. I wouldn't be freezing my beans though.

If you're grinding it it probably isn't much fun for either party.
