I say ride it out, it worked well here. Have you a sling/carrier/wrap? They're brilliant for that stage, baby snuggled close and feeling hugged and you've both arms free (which you will spend an insane proportion of the time still using to pat their back or hug them just because you want to)...

All kinds of weirdness headed your way. My current favourite is "My do it!" followed by "Help Mommy" the minute you give up trying to help/guide and walk off to do something else.

Two year old ripped the doors off the toy kitchen, her brother's toy kitchen but he shares it with her, chunks pulled out of the pulpwood doors where she literally ripped them off their hinges. Then she tried to blame her brother. Two year olds are really unpleasant.

Why would giving a mostly helpless little person who can't actually communicate "what they want" be a bad thing? Everyone gets more sleep when babies are being given exactly what they want. You can't spoil a baby.

Hey, no offence taken. You're right, there is a difference, and there is a difference between what is appropriate at different ages. Trying to sleep train a baby in the middle of a development leap, for example, will only cause stress for everyone, while starting to train a baby near the end...

Opposite to not responding... yes, babies and small children that are physically kept close to parents tend to cry less, and only to cry when there is a genuine problem (pain or discomfort or hunger usually as they sleep as needed).

They did the opposite, keeping babies close, in arms or strapped on in a carrier, to a parent, usually the mother, constantly for the first year or more of life, and babies were breastfed for at least two years.

I'm not judging what you did. If it worked for you after only 2 nights then great. But your baby was a toddler, with some understanding of language, not a younger baby who doesn't understand what is going on. Not trying to make you, or anyone else, feel like a terrible parent, we all have...

It can be tough going when babies can't sleep. My 11 month old is teething and the pain is waking her at night so she wants to feed a lot more and here I am at nearly 1 am in front of a computer when I should be fast asleep... but eventually they sleep, and in the meantime they need to be...
