I did get ripped off by someone who had built up about ten positive ratings, listed a bunch of normally expensive stuff at reasonable prices and then sent nothing to anyone. You could see the point when people cottoned on to him in the feedback. (I got my money back.)

If he’s not engaging with you, then I’d escalate it to a paypal claim and send him a reasonable message saying that you hate to have to do it but as he’s not responding you felt you needed to go that route and hopefully he can still sort it out.

I had a guy who bought an LP and then spent fucking days asking me specific questions about the pressing, the condition, etc. and no sign of payment. Eventually I cancelled the order and kept the LP. I'd always send a reminder before doing anything, usually you get back an embarrassed "Sorry!" and the payment. I'd rather be nice and hope they order something again.

ebay is too much hassle with its fees for every occasion, discogs is much more straightforward. As for whether one is better than the other in terms of getting the right people to buy your stuff, I don't know.
