Consent for a lot of things, hugs tend to be reciprocated but if the kids don’t want to give a hug or a kiss to us or a relative, we never force it (“But it’s your granny!” isn’t more important than their personal agency or space.)

Both of ours slept in our bed every night until they were 18 months or so and sleep in their own beds no bother now. Only very rarely would they look to come in now. It really is whatever works for your situation.

If you google sleep regression, it seems to give completely different ages for it to happen. I call shenanigans on it as a useful term.
