    The end of Sonic Youth?

the eternal was the first weak album they'd released in over a decade.

Whipping Boy - Roisin Dubh - May 20th

Submarine is great too. actually the best bits live were the more guitar-heavy tracks from Submarine, at least the bits before Fergal started singing.

Whipping Boy - Roisin Dubh - May 20th

i thought it was evident from the post that i was a big fan before i saw them live, but maybe i need to clarify that. begrudgery is wanting someone to fail before they do. there's a difference. cheers.

Whipping Boy - Roisin Dubh - May 20th

saw them in galway last week, one of the most disillusioning things i've ever witnessed. pub band bellowing out-of-tune vocals, changing the lyrics to embarrassing stuff about conspiracy theories and 'irish begrudgery' (are we still on that?). wish i stayed at home and listened to heartworm...

Anything good to do in Galway these days?

just stay in the Roisin after the gig. late night opening, class music, no need to go anywhere else. there's a couple of other cool bars just down the road as well. wouldn't stray too far from that side of town, unless it's trad music/RnB you're after.

anybody seen Republic of Loose live lately?

my concern is that a couple of members have left (i think?) and i was wondering if maybe they've lost a bit of edge cos of that. have you seen them since the re-jigged line-up?

Verdict? trying to decide whether to shell out to see them tomorrow night.

    Primavera Sound 2010

c n p: best festival in the world. marred slightly by some poor decision-making on my part, eg smuggling drink in on thursday, knocking it back in rapid time and ending up so twisted that i lost all ability to function - i kept going up to the bars constantly trying to pay for drink with money...

Dinosaur Jr AND Built To Spill

what's new, man. it was the exact same at Sonic Youth back in December. you feel like you're in a museum. i understand different people have different ways of enjoying gigs, but gig-goers in Ireland need to wake up a bit. the best gigs i've ever been to have been ones where the crowd and the...

Dinosaur Jr AND Built To Spill

Galway was excellent, very very loud. Built to Spill really impressed me, had never seen them live before, the guitar lines are amazing Dinosaur were without Murph who's sick, but really impressed too. played a good bit of early stuff, Forget the Swan was awesome, so was Little Fury Things...
