What Book Did You Read Last Night???

Nice! Like a hybrid between the Contortions and Black Flag. I wonder what would have happened if Black Flag had gone the jazz route..🙃

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

Informative stuff! Yeah his scope Is wide ranging in the extreme. I listening to a podcast from Marc marron interviewing him recently (skip his selling crap for the first 14 mins!), and he reveals that he researched the village voice on a micro-fiche in a library in Fort lauderdale (it didn't...

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

Its fascinating stuff alright. I'd hoped the accompanying PDF would have links to some of the artists he was talking about, but alas, no. I took to checking bands out on Tidal that he mentions most enthusiastically like saccharine trust and Firehose (bands i really should have known). The...

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

Its worth your attention. He talks about touring and all that, with dinosaur junior and swans, and playing at the behest of Neil Young at some oldie fest which is quite funny. Our band could be your life is a bit of a masterpiece of the genre though

What Book Did You Read Last Night???

I recently listened to Thurston moores 'sonic life' I was amazed at the detailed memories of gigs he'd been to in the 70s and realised he was obviously keeping a diary. The detail really brings the stankyness of Newyork in the 70s to life. A great run through of the sonic youth years which made...

    The bands that got away…

Saw him playing in Zurich. It was pretty amazing. Missed primus playing there and pj Harvey cancelled one which I would've loved to have seen at the time. Those two are probably the biggest regrets I can think of, but more than made up for by the ones I did get to see - the ruins, jesus lizard...

Thread for songs you used to like, but in hindsight realise they're not very good

Great thread title BTW! As for blur, while never a fan I think the whole parklife thing was more of an artistic package with the video the Keith Allen thing(making them out to be more working class than they are maybe) and celebrating the whole being English thing, which may have given rise to...

Thread for songs you used to like, but in hindsight realise they're not very good

I rarely look back on a song I loved and dislike it. It's a sense of misplaced loyalty or something. The only thing I can think of that's slightly embarrassing is Ministry, when I see pics of the man now, but psalm 69 is still pretty damn good
