well, this is certainly kicking off. so leslie buckley, a man with a good taste in friends, ordered/arranged the removal of 'IT backup tapes' from INM, which have been made available to third parties for analysis. the whys/wherefores/implications are keeping twitter going.
my brother got it, and got one for my parents. most of the use it seems to be getting is being asked questions the person already knows the answer to, or showing it to people. $50 to a $5 problem.

there's serious talk in work about a corporate policy on adblocking; this is after the recent wave of coinmining malware, a lot of which is using ads to propagate. it's creating a huge noise to signal ratio for our CERT guys to trawl through.

passed a deliveroo cyclist last night (i was driving) on a fairly unlit road - not a hint of a light on him, dressed all in black. it's insane that they get zero help from deliveroo for that sort of basic kit. but then, if deliveroo provided that, i guess it'd break the pretence that they're not...

replaced the car recently - my dad was changing his car and traded in mine, got more than twice what it was worth. bought his car off him, and the insurance company send me a refund for €75; even though the car now on the policy is worth probably four times the previous one.
it's a bit like that IRA jab at margaret thatcher - 'we only have to get lucky once, you've to be lucky all the time'; a Good Guy With A Gun has to get his aim right but the Bad Guy With The Gun doesn't need to worry nearly as much.
