I was at this too, and I'd agree with all of the above. The sound in the venue!! The physical presence of it was amazing. Amazing venue to see them in. I was wondering if they would use the organ in some way, that section was great with the chiming metal sounds - some really evil sounding shit...

Another Ty Segall attendee, cracking show. It was a bit like the crowdsurfing olympics alright. The first four or so songs were a total wall of noise from where I was standing, grand for a while, but then it started to drag for me... Sound definitely improved after that, from the Hot Chocolate...

Yeah, they only announced them at pretty short notice, a couple of weeks ago, I think. By the sounds of it there are plenty of tickets available tonight.

The Unthanks (plus orchestra) in the Abbey last night. Lovely stuff altogether, although I could have picked better seats. And the trumpet was a bit overpowering for the first couple of songs. Hadn't been there in years. They're on again there tonight.

Secret Sisters in Whelans, and most enjoyable it was - possibly the quietest crowd I've ever seen in Whelans (probably due to the fact that the average age was about 65). Stunning harmonies, and they were great fun too.

Redneck Manifesto in Whelans. First time seeing them in about 7 or 8 years, I reckon. Absolute stormer.

He's a gas man alright! Hope he comes back again soon.

Richard Dawson in Whelans. Absolutely outstanding. I was a bit worried that he wouldn't be as good with the band, but they were amazing. Total caveman stomp, and his lovely Burns guitar sounded amazing. He was fairly shook by the end of it!

Went to Sabbath on Friday night. Many orders of magnitude better than I expected it to be, and my hopes were high enough. Such a sound crowd as well, really great atmosphere in there. Can only imagine what the final gigs in Brum will be like...

At Low as well, another mesmerising performance, I only managed to get there just before Gaelynn Lea (who was great) but was able to get a seat with a slight view of the stage, just enough to see Alan Sparhawk, but not the rest of them. Landslide was the highlight for me, it sounded like he was...

I think this was the Christmas pints night for a large portion of the crowd, no more than meself they obviously don't get out too often! The amount of lads I heard over the course of the night lamenting that they never get out any more was gas.

I thought that the sound was good (better than the last couple of times I've been there), but you're right, the guitars weren't as prominent as they could have been.
