    BBC Radio 6 Music

I ain't no radio show producer or nothing, but this station is all over the place today. Dead air, timings missed. RadMac rode it out with banter which was quite entertaining (we're being shit, lol). It is very much not like the BBC to be like this.

I believe Craig Charles has a segment where listeners vote for one of two songs that have the same title.Y You're Not Alone springs to mind. There are many, and now my mind has drawn a blank.

i've never had a competitive bone in my body, sports wise. i just don't get a thrill from coming first in that context. but i can occasionally be interested by the underlying mechanics of sport (i guess you could call it the game theory of sport). oddly, i've read multiple books about cycling as...

Also, in terms of whether sport is good or bad. I do see how events like parkrun can be great bonding spaces. There’s a great community in our local one. It’s great in getting people together but avoids that “fuck those people from the next parish” mentality that can crop up in other sports

Arab and Iran commentators still want Biden as the lesser of evils. Biden shows what happens when one person has too much power. Never ends well. It is still swing voters and states that will decide this as ever.

Have to admit, I’ve never had any interest in sport. It’s almost like I grew up with that part of my brain missing. Was always way more into music and films. My 11 year old son is the total opposite of me. Massively into football. Would play it 24 hours a day if he could. I’ve started to get a...

    Minor Musical Observations

more of a question than an observation; what's the most common title shared by well-known songs? i can't think of too many with more than three examples; e.g. 'gloria' by them, 'gloria' by patti smith, 'gloria' by U2, and 'gloria' by laura branigan. and you could argue the toss on the patti...

AS MERCENARIAS - Cade As Armas LP. Reissue on Munster Records. Sao Paulo post punk from 1986. Bit like Bush Tetras, Au Pairs and Delta 5 but even better. Had Soul Jazz CD of this for years. TAPPI TIKARRASS - Miranda LP. 2024 reissue of 1983 post punk LP with Bjork...

If doping helps improve performance and you can get away with it then it will happen in pro sport. No one has failed a dope test at a soccer World Cup for 30 years because anti doping in soccer is totally insufficient. Lots of cyclists got caught doping from late 1990's to early 2010's because...

What gig did you go to last night?

Just been to Patti Smith. One or two worthy dirgey bits but the highs were fantastic. First gig I've possibly been to where the crowd was louder than the band.
