New Manics single (2 Viewers)

Any aul lads with that hairline and that hairstyle raise my suspicions. For further reading see david beckham, ramsey, ewan mcgregor and chris martin.

I say hey good luck to them, no finger pointing here. But I know. points finger

They should comb it forward

God I dunno about that Ann, did you hear their centrist dad anthem? It's a good piece of music but jesus man, it's like a drunk and despairing 3AM tweet thread

Yeah I did listen yesterday and I think I moved to forget it.
I heard some other single last night which had a lady on it and melodically was really good. (ignored the lyrics)

I've got my ticket and hotel booked for Brighton in October and will have my NHS Covid Pass in 12 days time. Fun will be had even if the album turns out to be as dull as the last one but I think it'll be much better based on the singles. Lyrics, woeful photography/art direction and some cringey interviews aside they're still a great bunch of lads.

Excellent! My stance on post 1996 Manics has softened considerably over the course of this thread and now I'm just completely in their camp at all times.

I wish they'd get involved with all the young socialist kids in some way, they seem totally bemused by not being the only socialists around to the point that they're in denial that it's even happening. Talk to your kids Nicky!

I want the newly reformed ABBA actually singing this one

Hints of The Last Shadow Puppets off this

I'm enjoying this album and am going to buy it on cd at the weekend instead of waiting a few years and picking it up for £2.99 like I did with the last one.

CD arrived at my folks in the North after ordering it from the official shop.

Maybe buy the download after another can?

My favs:

The Secret He Had Missed
Diapause
Into The Waves of Love

I'd say Quest for Ancient Colour and Happy Bored Alone are the only ones I don't like in some way.

I've tested this statement with a few people now with 100% positive responses
People saying they're influenced by ABBA by using big lush instrumentation and light disco beats is pretty common, didn't Arcade Fire pull that one out a few years back?, but actually writing an ABBA melody, right down to the slightly cringeworthy European inflected glam rock elements, it's rare someone pulls it off!

the real casual minor major jumping around for fun stuff is REALLY hard to do without sound like shit or just doing creep by radio head too

Album is good. Mature Manics. Nicky looking back, like all of us.

Listened to Generation Terrorists again tonight and good fuck. Amazing.

Reading Everything again too.

I had a great time at the Brighton gig. I particularly enjoyed singing along to Enola/Alone (always a better choice than Everything Must Go!) and the acoustic La Tristesse.

Just listening to the idiots on that manics podcast going to their gigs, I think the last time I saw the manics live was 2015 at this point. Fucking hell where does the time go?? that's a good Motown Junk -> Everything Must Go amount of time.

@chris d we gonna go and call for Tennessee when they next play Ireland, yeah?
