Upcoming Gigs of Interest (6 Viewers)

last thursday i decided to look up as many Dublin venue websites, promoter websites, and gig listing sites as i could think of (took a few hours) to see what was coming up gig wise
(didn't bother with festivals etc.)
Venues I searched (no particular order) :
Fibbers, Sugar Club, Voodoo Lounge, Academy, Vicar Street, 3 Arena, Olympia, Soundhouse,
Drop Dead Twice, Whelans, Button Factory, Grand Social, Workmans Club, National Concert Hall, Underground.
no web presence for Jigsaw or Bohs Bar that I could find.
ignored some other big joints that never put on anything i'm interested in (theatres).

Promoters sites: DME, Aiken, MCD, Umack, Skinny Wolves.

gig listing websites :
bleedingeardrums.com (metal listings)
hope collective (was great until recently but needs updating)

basically there's more going on than i thought.
some venue sites were poor or just facebook or twitter links.
something really annoying was clicking on a listing on and
going to the ticket sales - without any info or links on the artists.
ticketmaster are masters of this.
Button Factory website mostly lacking info and links for artists.
some websites were really good tho'.

Fuck complaining about not knowing about gigs when you know exactly where to find info but refuse to look... :D

Yeah promoters, don't worry about telling the people who would be paying in at the door and covering the costs and hopefully more of the gig you are putting on. Punters will find it anyway.
Everything will be ok. Facebook has you.

Are you addressing the promoters that don't post here in the hope they'll read your post?

No,I'm addressing the fact that there are many avenues to promote a gig,and many are free or cheap. More often than not if I hear through word of mouth about a gig,I then go to look for info, and the only place it can be found is Facebook. And sometimes still,I can't access the info because I'm not on Facebook.

It's crazy the number of times I say to mates I went to a gig and they reply saying they'd not heard about it,so it's not just me or here.

But Facebook has it covered.

i forgot to mention Irish Hardcore facebook group in my last post...
it's a public page just you DON'T have to sign up to facebook
(i'm not on facebook myself) also if you want to look at something on
faceshit most people know someone who is on it and who will let them do it.

but yes, Gary - ditching old ways of doing things completely (especially
us older people) is/was a bad idea e.g. flyers, zines, writing letters etc. are great

here's the Irish Hardcore Facebook public group:
www.facebook.com/groups/irishhardcore/

speaking of punk here's the facebook page for the THOMAS HOUSE:
www.facebook.com/pg/thomashousedublin/events/?ref=page_internal
click on events and you have their gig listings

I'm told by my local Celtic expert (he once got a loan of their copy of the European Cup)
that Virgil van Dijk was already a genius in Glasgow.

While i have your attention Cormac I want to thank you for your past treatment of Paula Radcliffe.
I always disliked Lance but thought she behaved like a legit athlete however
she's was as phoney at it gets and her stance on Caster Semenya is bigoted
nonsense.
You were unceasing in your unmerciless mockery of her misfortunes at
major championships and for that I salute your perceptiveness.

Radcliffe is a total fraud. Just like most brit athletes that 'excelled' on the world stage.
