On this album review I found an bizarre criticism

Lily & Madeleine - Fumes

Their increasing awareness of sexual objectification however comes on a record that feels frigid and actually lacks a certain sex appeal or sense of danger.

It seems the reviewer wants them to make themselves sexual objects on an album when it is clear they don't want to be treated as such.

Was just about to post that Lily and Madeline are, basically, children when I figured some time had moved on since I last took an interest in them. Then I see this review is from 2014 and contains this quote

Given the age of the performers in question, still only 16 (Lily) and 18 (Madeleine)

That review is fucking bizarre. If the reviewer wants sex appeal they should fuck off and watch porn, not seek it out in the records of a 16-year old.

U2: Songs of Experience review – fantastic return to form | Alexis Petridis' album of the week

This glowing review by Alexis Petridis of the new U2 album is bad in the sense that it's completely off the mark and I went and listened to the album on the back of it. I'm listening again now to see if I was wrong but no, it's more of the same old U2 shite that the edge's effects rack writes by itself when he turns it on. The first two songs are great in fairness but not the rest of it.

Miguel is a black guy who sings sexy music and owns a guitar so i'm taking a shot every time people mention how he sounds exactly like Prince in reviews. I'm hammered right now.

sorry I missed this thread until now, anyway -
In 1993 Virgin records Hut label was beginning to have huge success with Verve and Smashing Pumpkins. they were also trying to launch the career of David Gray who had a single dismissed by Everett True in Melody Maker in a one line review:

"This is music for people who don't like music."

another one that made me laugh was from January1994 Maximum Rock n' Roll. Neil Nordstrom's review of Earth Crisis - Firestorm EP (Victory Records) contained the line:

"For a poison-free band, the sure don't have a lot brain cells."

'Fifty Shades Freed': Thank Goodness It's All Over

When Ana wakes up, Christian is back and is angrily morning-drinking. Later on, he will take her to the Red Room and torment her with a vibrator without allowing her sexual release. He explains that this is how he feels when she doesn’t do what he asks. It doesn’t seem like a very apt comparison.
The movie ends with a montage reminding us of all Ana and Christian’s romantic moments together. (None, notably, are from the current film.) He saves her from being run over by a bicyclist; he takes her up in a helicopter, a glider, and a private jet; he brings her out on a sailboat. It was only now that I realized: This entire trilogy has been an R-rated version of Richard Scarry’s Cars and Trucks and Things That Go.

not exactly a bad review but it is entertaining

this review is horseshit.

i got brought to The Ivy last Sunday for a birthday dinner and it was class. the crowd were painfully posh / wannabe but the food and service was perfect. best steak ive had in years and our main waiter was on the ball with everything. Totally Dublin obviously had a bee in their bonnet about the place.

It got a shit a review in the Irish Times as well. Looks you like it's two against one now, dude :)

im sure thers plenty of reviews what talked it up (probably fucking Harbo or some CNUT!) otherwise i doubt i would have been brought to such an eatery in the first place!
Alls i know is i was happy out after me steak.

though there is no doubt that the place is incredibly far up its own arse. and id be the first whiney bastard to notice crap service / poor food.
but i really couldnt fault the grub nor the people what brought it to me. RECOMMENDED BY ERNESTO

The steak would have to be really amazing to make up for the DJ. A DJ in a restaurant is about as welcome as a priest at an orgy.
