"Cardiff Metropolitan University is at the forefront of political correctness sensitivity. The University Bans Lecturers from Using any Sexist or Insensitive Words. The list of banned words is wider than you might think. Here are some examples: mankind, homosexual, housewife, manmade, and sportsmanship"

Some ofhe comments below the article are a hoot, iI love this one in particular:

"thanks, universities, for providing me a list of words i will DEFINITELY use

the old ones, that is. go fuck yourselves, snowflakes." :)

British University Bans All "Politically Incorrect" Words: Here's The List... | Zero Hedge

On the same day that UK universities were found to be populated by rapey morons, it's food for thought. I'll still find a way to turn it into sarcasm though.
Pretty much every person i've known in the postgrad world In Ireland has had to deal with rapey, grooming staff. It's absolutely endemic and there's no recourse because everyone's job is constantly on the brink. Everything is shovelled under the carpet.

Buy hey, damn PC people always trying to make others be nice. It's a disgrace. Can't even be racist without getting in trouble.

"John Cleese says political correctness has gone too far, especially on America's college campuses, where he will no longer go to perform. The very essence of his trade — comedy — is criticism and that not infrequently means hurt feelings. But protecting everyone from negative emotion all the time is not only impractical (one can't control the feelings of another), but also improper in a free society. Cleese, having worked with psychiatrist Robin Skynner, says there may even be something more sinister behind the insistence to be always be politically correct."

“Political correctness is America's newest form of intolerance, and it is especially pernicious because it comes disguised as tolerance. It presents itself as fairness, yet attempts to restrict and control people's language with strict codes and rigid rules. I'm not sure that's the way to fight discrimination. I'm not sure silencing people or forcing them to alter their speech is the best method for solving problems that go much deeper than speech.” George Carlin

Talking of rape - how would you feel if the PC brigade started labelling rape victims as 'unwilling sperm recipients'?
