On 3 June 2016, Pink FloydRecords will begin the reintroduction of the Pink Floyd catalogue on vinyl for the first time in over two decades. The first four records will be ‘The Piper at the Gates of Dawn’, ‘A Saucerful of Secrets’, the soundtrack from the film ‘More’and the 2 LP set ‘Ummagumma’. Pink Floyd Records will reproduce the vinyl catalogue throughout the year with release dates being announced at regular intervals. In the meantime, all Pink Floyd records are now available on CD, digital and most streaming platforms.

Special care has been taken to replicate the original packaging. The first batch of releases, mastered by James Guthrie, Joel Plante and Bernie Grundman will be pressed on 180gram vinyl for optimum sound quality.

Pink Floyd featuring Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Rick Wright and Nick Mason first broke onto the music scene in 1967, with the hit single ‘Arnold Layne’. Despite the departure of Syd Barrett, the group, which now included David Gilmour, recorded some of the most innovative and ground breaking records of the time, culminating in 1973 with one of the biggest selling albums of all time, ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’. There followed numerous global number 1 albums, including, ‘The Wall’, ‘Animals’, ‘Wish You Were Here’, ‘The Final Cut’ and 2014’s finale, ‘The Endless River’.

Pink Floyd Records releases will be manufactured and distributed by Warner Music for the UK and Europe and by Sony Music for North America and the rest of the world.

Max Lousada, Chairman and CEO Warner Music UK said: “We're proud to continue to support one of the world's greatest and most influential bands. This is an exciting new chapter in our long-standing partnership with Pink Floyd and we look forward to working with them to help curate their remarkable body of work.”

Rob Stringer, Chairman and CEO Columbia Records said: “We are proud to continue the long standing relationship in North America and beyond between Columbia Records and Pink Floyd. We are excited to work together with the band on their incredible musical legacy.”

The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn

Pink Floyd’s debut album featuring the original line-up of Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Richard Wright and Nick Mason. The album includes the classic songs Astronomy Domine, Lucifer Sam and Interstellar Overdrive. One of the seminal psychedelic rock albums of the 1960s.

Stereo version (original LP both Mono and Stereo)

A Saucerful Of Secrets

The band’s second album, originally released in 1968, was the first album to feature David Gilmour, who replaced Syd Barrett on guitar and vocals. It is both the last Pink Floyd album on which Syd Barrett appeared and the only studio album to which all five band members contributed. This is Pink Floyd in transition from Barrett's psychedelic whimsy to the style of their epic pieces. Classic tracks include Jugband Blues and Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun.

Stereo version (original LP both Mono and Stereo)

More

In 1969 the band collaborated with filmmaker Barbet Schroeder to provide the soundtrack to the film More. This was the first of Pink Floyd's film soundtrack albums, and includes future early 70's live favourites Cymbaline and Green Is The Colour.

Ummagumma

This was the band’s first double album and has one of their most iconic cover images. One album features Pink Floyd’s then-current live set, while Disc 2 includes solo compositions and performances by each member of the band. Live tracks include Careful With That Axe, Eugene and Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun, while studio tracks include Grantchester Meadows and The Narrow Way.

I bought the More and Ummagumma reissues today. Special care has been taken to replicate the original packaging me hole, unless the original packaging was rubbish. The sound good though!

Yeah, I probably won't be able to stop myself grabbing Piper, Saucerful, Meddle, Obscured By Clouds, Animals and maybe The Final Cut and The Wall . I don't think Piper got a mono reissue this time.

Have all those, apart from the wall and final cut, on vinyl since back in the day. Its that flimsy-shit vinly they churned out in the late 80s though, so my collection might need refresing.

Remember 'A Nice Pair'? I got that. It was Piper and Saucerful released as a single double-disc release. No idea of the story behind why the record company did it, but anyway, I have it.

I have a vinyl copy of that on Harvest that I got in the 80s.

True story. I was in secondary school (pre inter-cert) and a mate of mine told me his uncle was into pink floyd. I was telling him I'd just got Meddle and how it was great and all. However it happened he told me that his uncle had Relics on tape, and would we do a swap for a couple of days so we'd each hear the other.

Anyway, his uncle thought Relics was shit and Meddle was deadly, and wouldn't give me the fucking thing back. He told me I could keep Relics and he'd be keeping Meddle.

Needless to say, 13 year old me didn't know what way to look. I went into Virgin megastore on the quays the following saturday and saw that Relics on tape cost more than Meddle on vinyls. Luckly I had the fiver, or whatever it cost, and rebought it, again on Harvest.

Still, thinking back on it, yer man was some prick to do that.

That does look pretty cool alright, although I can't see myself buying it. I never heard of that John Latham session before, sounds interesting. I guess after all the immersion sets there's not much chance of a box of later material, unless there are some final cut / momentary lapse of reason out takes that they could package up along with the carrera panamerica sound track. Ugh.
