yes; no; "one sock missing" was the one that got them noticed a.f.a.i.k.

i remember an article at the time that likened the grifters/pavement to the contemporaneous discovery of calculus by newton/leibniz.

sorry it's sideways. not how i took it. not saying i necessarily agree w/the pavement comparison either - don't know enough of either band.

Listening to them at the moment.
They're excellent. I'm thinking a bit like Superchunk - earlier Pavement (but not as nerdy)... I can see how GBV were influenced by the them for Under the Bushes.
I hadn't heard of them until the last few days. It's always great to discover for yourself.
