Really liked back to black. It all became a car crash after that.
It seemed to me that she looked at the singers she loved who had complicated private lives, drink & or drug problems, bad people around them, dodgy husbands ect.... And willfully pursued it, ticking off the boxes.

I saw a couple of her live performances on TV. If low rent drunken cabaret acts are your thing I'm sure she was very good at what she did.

Dismissed it as coffee table music back then, by a celebrity cockney of all people. I did like listening to Back to Black there, but I'm probably just closer to coffee table music these days.
