Merz. Was sort of aware of him first time around with his debut album a few years ago but never really dug deep then, but his new album Loveheart is just brilliant.

That could be quite a thin line though. One man's retro is another man's "dated piece of crap". It would be interesting to quantify exactly what makes something 'dated' as opposed to retro. I would largely agree that New Order's best material can still sound fresh and vibrant years later, but...
