Unpopular Opinions (2 Viewers)

not sure if this counts as 'early' (probably) - but I always thought this was a good balance of somewhat more interesting arrangements, and really strong songs. He does more than mumble on these ones @ernesto . I still find the album he did with Phil Spector almost unlistenable

Example of a brilliant Cohen song where the arrangement sounds like it was programmed into a cheap casio keyboard

(FWIW for me everything before the Phil Spector one counts as "early")

Might give these a spin later to see if my mind can be changed

totally of its time though

I got that album right when it came out and, though what you say is right, it felt normal back then

it hasn't aged well

if you want to try to separate out the lyrics from the arrangement and production, you peeps should take a listen to Zoran

hungarian singer who made a career for himself as the eastern-bloc Leonard Cohen

here’s the song that gets played at every funeral in hungary

it is amazing how worked up people get on this thread.
don't care if someone doesn't like something I think is amazing. I am used to that.

unless someone says something inaccurate.
e.g. "all ----- music is shit''. you'd have to everything in the genre to know that.

"All electronic music since 1990 is shit"?

what I want to know is if @ernesto has started to conform with the group norms and has turned into a 'lenny-lover' overnight.

ive listened to half that album so far........ although its confirming some initial thoughts, it has changed some perceptions. more to come (OH LORD, THE EXCITEMENT!)

who is next to jump the chasm from uncool to cool?
U2?
That'd be a good one, or all the zoomers getting into Weller and getting the haircut. Like, everything is so personalized now it's hard to know but I imagine the uncoolest bands now must be any of the first generation of punk bands, bar maybe the Buzzcocks.

The Embrace and Travis revival would be quite the thing.
