finally convinced my TV remote to work with the new VirginMedia360 set top box (it's not a Virgin Media box like the tv 'helpfully' suggests - it's an Arris box)

We got a cheese making kit for xmas. Finally got round to making some mozzarella, that seemed like the easiest of the 30 odd recipes in the kit.

It actually tastes like mozzarella. It was like a practical chemistry lesson, quite cool.

i want to make halloumi. have done mozzarella a few times, halloumi seems similar but you basically cook it in the whey (IIRC)

According to the cheese bible, it's similar, but takes longer to do, and involves an oven. But it seems manageable. Also it lasts longer in the fridge.


I never really knew what rennet was before today.

EDIT: Keep the whey!!
