Beastie Boys were amazing. This album is amazing.

I know that Billy was very upset when David Berman died; I was about this upset when Adam Yauch died.

Possible unpopular opinion but I'd put them at the top of classic hip hop with Wu-Tang and Biggie Smalls.

Most of my mates that weren't into death metal like I was, or who were rapidly transitioning post Nirvana had this album back then. I heard it on the radio, saw the videos for the singles. I don't think I've ever put it on to listen through till today. This is great.

i only have 3 of their LP's (ahem CD's ) but the is the best.
liked this at the time and still sounds good.
being a gateway band into hip hop for white kids was a roll they did brilliantly.
how a not very good hardcore punk* band in 1981/82 ended up having
a US #1 album in 1987 (the first rap band to become enormous) is one the
more bizarre music stories of the 1980's - if not ever.

* i love HC punk.

For those unaware, this was the Boy's last show. Bassist Adam Yauch was diagnosed with cancer shortly after. He died in 2012. Truly a historic performance. Rest in peace MCA.
