BREXIT (5 Viewers)

Right... so...

This month is going to be very interesting. Dominic Cummings... the guy who thinks he's shaking up the undemocratic system as an un-elected bureaucrat (as an adviser to Johnson)... reckons the UK government can press on with a No Deal Brexit even if there's a vote of no confidence in Johnson's government. He reckons they'll just call a general election after the 31st October and Brexit would go ahead anyway.

Dominic Grieve (the old Attorney General) has pointed out this is not the case because of the Fixed Term Parliament act of 2011 (this exists because of the Lib Dems).
If there is a vote of no confidence then there is a 14 day period in which the Westminster Parliament can come up with a new administration.

What *could* happen is this...

A group of MPs opposed to a No Deal Brexit (some Tories, most of Labour, all of the Lib Dems and most of the other parties - except the DUP) iron out any issues they have with each other and come up with a proposal for a National Unity Government. They'll need to do this during August.
When parliament reconvenes on the 3rd September, a vote of no confidence will be called by one of these (possibly by Jeremy Corbyn) and by the 17th/18th September a new UK government is put together. This will be a temporary administration who's sole aim would be to go back to the EU seeking an extension on the Brexit deadline (it'll be the shortest Queen's speech in history). Once an extension is granted (and it would be), then a General Election would be held (or... possibly... a Second Referendum... but most likely a General Election).
The outcome of that General Election would then determine what will happen with Brexit. It'll split the Tories... and it'll split Labour... and the Brexit Party will get seats... but some kind of Remain Alliance would have to concocted. It'll be a weird election with electoral pacts all over the place.
The winner of that election would then have a mandate for either leaving the EU or revoking Article 50.

From an Irish perspective... I wonder if some sort of alliance will be put together in Northern Ireland for MPs who will be elected on a mandate to get a Border Poll...

Corbyn, the hardcore rapture-loving disaster socialist who politely removed nuclear disarmament, a policy he has fought for his entire career, from the Labour manifesto because it was voted out by the party and he puts the democracy in his party above his own personal principles. Sorry I don't buy it - if the Labour party vote for another referendum he'll support it. Corbyn is no great disrupter, he's dull as hell.

Beyond despairing very loudly what do people think someone who isn't Corbyn could deliver against Johnson? Are they just calling for a return to New Labour/do they want some kind of Hillary Clinton figure or what?

If it’s so tattered and faded then why do all my smart, attractive friends love socialism so much, Phil?

much too close to home.

We might have weathered this storm, but now I'm staring down the barrel of "but yeah don't you think we need a database that spans several continents, is eventually consistent, can scale easily to petabytes to catalogue the Microsoft Sharepoint branch purchase requests".

No. Write it on the fucking whiteboard. There's 12 of them. You absolute cunts.
