Wow, I have just discovered... (4 Viewers)

there's also a style called lining out where everyone starts singing the same line but takes as long as they want. when the last note has sounded, everyone moves on to the next line. pure, unadulterated melisma.
This is pressing so many of my buttons that I can barely type! The Scottish one I mention in my earlier post is where everyone stays in time but sings their own notes and scales. It’s tremendous, I first heard it on that Channel 4 series Derek Bailey did on Improvisation (it’s also mentioned in the book but they had wonderful footage of old Scottish islanders in heavy wool jumpers that really sold it to me).

I can see this being a new money sink.

I’ve known about them for a long time as Nurse With Wound and Current 93 have name-checked them and even reissued one of their albums but wow, I should have gotten around to them sooner. I thought they were going to be another motorik krautrock band but they have huge chunks of soul/R’n’B running through them too. Incredible sound, two saxophones!

Here’s a live video from the 60s. Bear with it, they fuck about on synthesisers for the first 3-4 minutes before they actually start playing the song.

This is interesting. Joe Satriani's old pop/new wave band "Squares" from the 70s are releasing their debut album

Káryyn - Syrian/Armenian American artist mixing pop, experimental music, and traditional Middle Eastern forms to great effect. Listening to her album on Mute on Apple Music but there's stuff up on her soundcloud too:

And here's a Shitfork interview:

I'm finally digging into Sacred Harp/shape note singing. I have seen a couple of videos of it (including the Cork group doing it) and I have an album of a similar style from some Scottish island community but listening now to proper recordings from the US south. Exceptional stuff!
There's a Sacred Harp style group here in Dublin I think? Saw them sing at The House Presents, one time.

takes a bit of guts to have that on your search history !
Boy George came up with that name for CULTURE CLUB but
saw sense and his friend Andi used it for his Goth band instead.

one of the best Swedish hardcore bands of the 80's was
R_P_D TEENAGERS (always try to about typing full band name)
two of them reformed as PUSRAD about 8 years ago doing
similar music with no bass.

I was thinking that Sebastian song was a bit saucy and there is definitely other rude stuff in there. Some adam and the ants influence with the vocals maybe still it's not too bad.

There are bands called Child Abuse and Child Pornography. That’s a whole world of google hell I imagine.

And also this post has put me and Thumped on a list.

Have the first Raped Teenagers 7",it's a good one. Somehow never heard any of the lps.

actually i've since remembered that SEX GANG ________
was a line from Burroughs.

love R.T's first EP : 13 lethal songs - the drummers tempo changes
knock the teeth out of my head.
a live recording from 1986 is amazing.
the first EP goes for 15-20 Euro and the rest of their records are bargain
prices - strangely cheap for an 80's HC band.
they were one of those really unique bands but they never had much
of an influence and they sounded markedly different all the raw punk
(DISCHARGE) style bands Sweden is known for.
none of their records have been reissued or booted.
actually it would be cool if all old records were this cheap....

two of them reformed doing the same style that they played in
the later 1980's i.e slightly less fast as PUSRAD:

Courtesy of the Icebreaker show in NCH last night, I discovered Anna Meredith, as they played a few of her pieces. This is deadly.
