Any of ye mention the new Trash Kit album yet? It’s awesome. Like a cross between Vampire Weekend, the Slits and Pinback

Yeah i've been really enjoying it, it's constantly on the verge of driving me mad by turning into mathrock but never quite falls down that hole.

'Palm' by Kyoto trio Kukangendai out on Stephen O'Malley's label, or is it Peter Rehlberg's, I'm not sure.

Listened to these back months ago, and they didn't grab me. O'Malley dropping the Bastro reference might have been misleading too.

But they're playing soon, near me, so I gave them another whirl. Not too shabby, sounds like it could work well in an intimate venue.

Hypnotic, stripped down post-hardcore. Taut might be a useful adjective. It's like the songs never quite get going, or just keep going in this near-tedious minimal groove with no real payoff. Interesting. Starting to warm to it a bit.

The Japanese noiserock hype ticket of the year, no doubt.

Liked bits and pieces of Tool over the years. There were lots of people losing their shit over the prospect of new material due for release this year. The new tune is basically a medley of a bunch of older tracks. Pretty underwhelming

Love it.

New Hold Steady album is their best in quite a while. They're finally become the E-Street band.

New Sleater-Kinney is good on first listen. I've always been iffy about Carrie's clipped, self-conscious singing style and there's a lot of it on here, and some of the lyrics are too on the nose for me, but at least it sounds like a move forward after the slight meandering of the reunion album.

looking forward to hearing this score next month. Love all of Mica Levi's stuff.
