I found myself in the horrors of the Dundrum Centre today. Luckily their Golden Discs is still open and is half decent...

Specials - Specials CD
Golden Discs retro logo - t-shirt (couldn't resist, that logo was on nearly plastic cover I had)

picked up the new reissue of The Voice Of Love by Julee Cruise. Badalamenti and Lynch in control again. Just as good as Floating Into The Night. Had spotified this to death over the last few years, such a great album. If you're into this sort of thing

I have the CDs of this and Floating but very tempted by the vinyl reissues.

Did you get it on vinyl? What's the pressing like? I saw some negative comments about it on Discogs, so was just wondering...

going go bung up various things i bought this year no particular order -

COSMIC JOKERS- Galactic Supermarket LP. reissue, early 70's w/ Klaus Schulze - incredible LP.
BEDBOYS EP (No Plan) reissue. one the best HC records from early 80's. from Italy
WANKYS / KUOLEMA 7" . two of my favourite bands/old guys.
G.LO.S.S. - Trans Day Of Revenge 7" trans HC. really good music/great lyrics.
ATAVISTIC - both 7"s. late 80's UKHC/Thrash very unique, noisy, political - but neglected band.
BLITZ - All Out Attack 7" reissue. best oi!/skin record i've ever heard
NOISE / BIXERA 7" Brazilian noisecore legends and young guns.
NO TREND - you breed like rats...LP (boot) if Keith Levene joined Flipper? bitter 16 year old singer
EXIT HIPPIES - Acid Rain flexi. Tokyo noise punk, HC, occasional techno weirdos - check them out
RAW POWER - (FOAD (Italy)) Wop Hour expanded edition LP. cool booklet, bonus live classics.
RAPT- Thrash War 1984/87 discography LP+7"+CD DISORDER meets noisegrind pioneer (France)
V/A - Karate Klub Kompilation LP lots of good bands w/ nice package, very cheap. well done!
ONIKU- Way to live CD (grind noise)
MALAD - 99 song EP tape (Ukraine noisecore)
AUNT MARY - Sessions Of Extreme Nihilism 1989-92 CD (noisecore/noise aka BIZARRE UPROAR)
HAMILTON BOHANNON - 2 used 70's LP's (too many mellow tracks - why do funksters do this ?)
PATRICK COWLEY and JORGE SOCCARAS -Catholic 2xLP (Dark Entries) 1979 SF post punk style from SYLVESTER collaborator.

only got debit card for first time last year but it's actually narrowed range of music i've bought to my surprise.

Those Atavistic 7"s are great. The lp is a bit of a let down, although I've not heard it in years.
Didn't now about the Raw Power lp or bedboys 7" ,must keep an eye out for them.

Faust Od Serca Do Duszky 2LP
JFK Weapon Design LP
Konstrukt + Keiji Haino A Philosophy Warping Little by Little That Way Lies a Quagmire Live LP
Various Artists Inland Empire CD
Various Artists Music of the Polygonola CD

Yeah - the ATAVISTIC LP is not nearly as good -
i've listened to it online a few times and it's not a priority for me to get it.

certain bands i think are awesome from back then like ATAVISTIC, SCRAPS (Lille lads)
maybe SATANIC MALFUNCTIONS, G-ANX (and some other bands from second
wave of Swedish HC less indebted to Discharge) sadly for whatever reason
never influenced many bands and thus i suppose their records be gotten quite cheap.
the Atavistic 7"'s were 9 and 11 Euro...

the RAW POWER LP only came out in the last month or so. the booklet has
lots of cool stuff with some amazing flyers especially from their many US tours.
Great job by FOAD as usual. (Not Deko P.V.'s label kids)

The BEDBOYS 7" from 2016 is on No Plan who did the reissues of
NEGAZIONE -Tutti Pazzi, both STIGMATHE 7"s, UPSET NOISE 7" etc.
it was sold out on advance orders i think.
but plenty of copies on discogs for 7-8-9 Euro.

another great record i got off FOAD distro recently was the finally reissued -

BLACK DEATH - s/t album (Hell's Headbangers)
but on CD unfortunately. also reissued on original LP + 7"format.
this has been mentioned on Thumped or Eirecore before - Black Metal from Ohio 1983.
as in four African Americans playing proto thrash metal. stellar stuff from beginning to end.
would love to have a poster of the band photo.
these lads deserve some attention like Detroit's DEATH got some years back.
everything about this record is great.
just good as ACCEPT's Restless and Wild or any classic of the era.
the look totally bad ass, the singer, playing and of course the tunes are all ace.

"ALL RIGHT ALL YOU HEADBANGERS OUT THERE
LET'S SEE YOU GET OFF YOUR SEATS !
LOCK YOUR DOORS AND KEEP YOUR PARENTS OUT
AND TURN YOUR MUSIC UP LOOOOUUUD !!"

my two favourite new records i got this year are both surprisingly from the UK
(a place with a great music past but mundane in my generation):

THIEVING BASTARDZZZ - Complete Musical Disasters 7" (SPHC)

this includes Tim from SKUM DRIBBLURZZZ - his first ever record !
16 very fast, noisy punky HC thrash noise tunes - Genius.
rightly compared to KUOLEMA, RAPT, SP-CAOS, ULSTER etc.
again this is another style of music few have guts to play.
there is talk that an LP of the two SKUM DRIBBLURZZZ gigs that
were recorded may be released.
both gigs were from 1984 in Nottingham and Leeds - where they opened for
RATTUS and BLACK FLAG (both had their sets filmed and the
FLAG set is long available on video from Cherry Red).
see youtube. the spelling of SKUM DRIBBLURZZZ is always a bugger.

VIOLENT PACIFISTS - s/t 7" (Everyday Madness Everyday) 2017
not dissimilar but from Dundee...
40 odd tracks of very short, very distorted, very fast HC thrash
that sounds almost like noisecore but is definitely hardcore.
loads of references to the 80's scene of their youth
e.g. 'Soap the Stamps', DRI song Violent Pacification,
Skateboards etc.
not sure how many people other than Graham are in this actually.
great stuff that only middle aged veterans seem to have ever played.
good on 'em is all i say - in it for life.
