I was thinking earlier how amazing it is just how much (in some ways) this country has progressed since when I was a kid, but couldn't help but wonder would an openly gay man be elected as leader of the party if the FG membership directly elected him, and in a broader sense if the country is ready to elect an openly gay man as taoiseach, or if, thanks to the FG electoral college system, he got in by the back door.
