Was trying to keep up with Vernon's stuff, but, there's just so much.....

One of the best I've bands I've seen

Rig Rundown: Los Straitjackets | Premier Guitar

I want to get that reverb sound

Those guitars look like them tiesco's from way back when

I'm actually sick to the back teeth of using them fender amps. They seem to be the preffered default of many of the sound companies up the north west and my gigs are all plug an play. they sound great, the reverb is lovely, the vibrato is really nice but of you turn the volume past about 1, every microphone on stage immediately catches fire, the sound engineers hands dissolve and the entire gig just becomes a den of feedback and everyone explodes.

i.e. for most applications, particularly playing, they are a bit too loud and the volume control is more of an on/off switch. I tend to use my overdrive with the volume turned way down to sorta bypass that feature.

You say that likes it's a bad thing(?)

I only played through one once and I didn't notice anything---apart from as, you say the really nice vibrato

I wouldn't have a problem other than usually the soundcheck goes like this:

Sound: CAn you turn down that amp?
Me: Its actually as low as it can possibly go.
Sound: Its too loud, you need to make it quieter
Me: (performs magic, effects national electricity grid)
Sound: Its still too loud, its going to spill into the vocal mics
Me: (mime's strumming) how's this
Sound: That's perfect.
Me: (to self - if its too loud why the fuck did you bring it to every gig for past three years).

haha.

those guitars look mad cool. i love the one with the button pickup switches. being able to turn on two at a time to make humbuckers is pretty swish.

on the subject of reverb, i picked up one of these recently as i'm mostly just using a 6w with no reverb on board

Its god damned amazing. usual complaint with the crap switches they use but otherwise highly recommend.

I want something as BIG as this

I might try next week. You can make your own and load them into it.
I've just been using the albert lee setting or the sigur ros one.
been meaning to make one.

I've played with some ridiculously loud drummers. Never once heard a drummer be told to play quieter. Why is that?

Impossible not to think of Nigel Tuffnell

Not sure if this has been posted before, but it's probably one of my favourite Rig Rundowns....
