Recommend me some Jazz (1 Viewer)

I picked up Adam's Apple by Wayne Shorter last weekend, which I'm enjoying and also got Miles Ahead cd at the last Thomas House record fair, which I'm looking forward to hearing!

Strut sounds great. I saw Louis Stewart a few years back, wasn't huge into jazz guitar then but I really like it now. Well worth going to see.

I've been listening to this album a lot lately:

Also based on some recommendations here I listened to this and am really liking it:

My dad gave me this lp which really turned me on to jazz guitar:

i like some of wes montgomery's records (movin along, bumpin, full house). these were my dad's records too actually. wm gets very cheesy later on though. so very cheesy, and not in a good way. joins the ranks of grover washington jr, george benson: people who started out badass and then went to the dogs.

around 2001 there was a lunchtime gig in bank of ireland arts centre with louis stewart reuniting with danish bassist niels henning orsted pedersen. lyric fm were on site to record it for broadcast. n.h.o.p. showed up pretty hammered and had to be plied with coffee just to get him on stage. gig was a disaster, some car crash moments. never was broadcast but i believe the tapes are still languishing in the lyric vaults.

Nobody plays guitar like Allan Holdsworth. It sounds like a tarantula crawling across the fretboard.

Robbed this from the aul lads vinyl collection:

Really nice. Well worth a listen. Check out Zoot Sim's suit(?) on the cover.
Also been listening to this loads lately:
Panthalassa_The_Music_of_Miles_Davis_1969-1974.jpg

Bill Laswell remixing Miles' stuff from '69 to '74. It's absolutely brilliant. Really interesting listen. He used all the master tracks and made his own mixes/remixes of Miles' stuff.

Teo Macero wasn't a fan for fairly obvious reasons but I think his take on the remixes are great. I like how he really ups the drums in them.

Thirded. Big ups to Panthalassa.

I'm listening to this, one of Sun Ra's better albums from the time I think. Clunky and groovy at the same time. It's also my all-time favourite album title.
