Shit I was thinking about putting At Close Range and a few De Palmas down but wasn't sure if they were noir's or thrillers. FUck it. Thriller/Noir what's the difference?

Good paranoid movies:
Dr. Strangelove
8 Days in May
All The Presidents Men
Parralax View
Zodiac
Well there’s a lot of crossover but I’d say De Palma’s early stuff falls into the noir category – stuff like Obsession, Dressed to Kill, Body Double definitely noir.

Is Chinatown too obvious?
Too Classic more like!

Jean Pierre Melville - French Noir - highly recommend:
Le Cercle Rouge
Le Samourai
Bob Le Flambeur

Trauffaut's:
Shoot The Piano Player

And then the movie it and Bob Le Flambeur went on to influence:

PTA's debut - Hard 8

If you’re on a Friedkin thriller kick – The French Connection and Sorcerer are both outstanding and To Live and Die in LA, Bug and Killer Joe are all very good.
I've seen all them. Is Jade worth a watch or just to be avoided?
I have a really shit quality dl (only thing available) of Rampage too!

Jim Thompson adaptations

The Getaway – great

The Kill Off – haven’t seen

After Dark, My Sweet – great

The Grifters – great

The Killer Inside Me – good

Coup de Torchon (Pop. 1280) – haven’t seen

Don't both films share a character (or possibly a bar)?
Im not sure, I haven't heard that before.

Killer Inside me was ok, looked a bit digitally cinematography wise. Casey Affleck is solid in everything though.

US/JAPAN Noir - Black Rain
Future Noir - Blade Runner, Gattaca
Vampire Noir - THe Hunger

Gonna have to wait till I read them before I watch them.
I have two Omnibuses of his work but have only read Savage Night which was terrific!

After Dark, My Sweet is one of my favourite movies. No one else seems to have seen it though.

I’ve only read The Killer Inside Me and Pop. 1280. Both disturbing crime stories that get right under your skin.
