few albums i liked that haven't been mentioned so far in thread,

marissa anderson - mercury. lovely guitar instrumental album. no other instrumentation. 2-3 minute pieces. keeps album fresh throughout. bit of a rootsy feel to it. great

time is a mountain - s/t. all instrumentals. similar sounding to cinematic orchestra

second implodes album, recurring dream. heavily distorted guitar with melodic vocals hidden into the mix. very similar to first one

lullabies and nightmares by justin walters. ambient electronic album. excellent

victim of love, charles bradley. funk/soul. really like that album

menahan street band - the crossing. instrumentals. lads from budos band, charles bradley, daptone records. really nice listen

Even though I've heard it's not as good as the first one,I'm expecting/hoping the new Giuda lp will take the prize this year.

Not bought or heard much new this year in general though.

Some good ones I got(although not necessarily "best")

Hard Skin-on the balls/why do birds suddenly appear lp
Dread Sovereign-pray to the devil in man 12"
Active Minds/Satanic Malfunctions-split lp
Jaded Eyes-gods and monsters lp
HDQ-lost in translation lp
Violent Arrest-distorted view lp
Zom-demo 12"
Mudhoney-vanishing point lp

And loads of killer reissues.

Leaving out Irish bands, cos that's just trouble.

Albums I enjoyed the most:

Lady Lamb the Beekeeper - Ripely Pine
Born Ruffians - Birthmarks
Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City
Hospital Ships - Destruction in Yr Soul
Courtney Barnett - The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Push the Sky Away

I'd like to include that Haim album but it's hard to take such musical pastiche seriously. Still have to give the Throwing Muses and Goldfrapp albums a bunch more listens before I figure them out.

Loads of individual tracks though, i'm a gonna throw together a playlist from it all.

Still Mikal Cronin - MCII in our gaff.

With honourable mentions to Hookworms, Factory Floor, Pissed Jeans, The Oh Sees, mbv, Fuzz and Deerhunter

I'm going with The Spook School - Dress Up.

also really enjoyed the Tegan & Sara album and the new Los Campesinos! one is really good too.

I'm going to say this because I love it and it's the best record cover I've seen in years

I love it. Ticks a lot of boxes that I like. I have heard people saying they prefer the first album but I like them all. It's my go to drinking album these days

Ghost are awful, first record sounded like the worst watered down version of Mercyful Fate, that song you posted sounds like a wimpy version of Die Krupps.
