I guess only pete & RayRay are the only people who can help but here goes.

It there a way to get FM radio on the BlackBerry?

I can get streaming stuff from everywhere which is great on the awl wi-fi, but I don't want to eat up my data plan listening "on the go"

So is there any way to use old fashioned FM radio on my device?

I see http://www.miroamer.com/ is recommended, but thats still a streaming interweb based yoke right?

EDIT: I'm using Tunein Pro and its deadly, but streaming only

If you go to options->About it will tell you the exact model of your BB. Then you can check out if it has a FM receiver on http://www.gsmarena.com/ .

I think you said you had a Bold 9700, if so your out of look http://www.gsmarena.com/blackberry_bold_9700-2963.php check under features and radio.

Basically the device itself (be it BB iPhone, Android, Nokia) has to have a FM receiver built into it. Its actual hardware, if it doesnt streaming's your only option

as I suspected - balls in anyways - thanks for the info rayray - I overlooked that spec - even my shitty little nokias had radio back in the day (with headphones plugged in to get the signal)

Streaming radio will eat the fuck out of data though right?

probably. even worse, it'll crack you up when the stream keeps dropping & reconnecting if you're on the move.

Hmm not sure. Im not up on all the data usage stuff. I personally have 1Gb a month and i've never gone over it and do a bit of streaming but not everyday.
