Right so I wanna learn the drums but I live in a house where if someone farts, the sound will be amplified in the next room loud enough to wake the person.

Those electronic ones then seem to be my only option for the time being and was hoping someone could suggest one from here:

I've tried one out with mesh heads in music maker in town but that set cost about 3 grand - looking to spend more along the lines of 500 quid.

Any help appreciated folks!

500 won't get you much. I got the Roland TD 9 and it is really, really excellent. I got it from Thomann too and they were cheaper than any shop in Dublin city centre, for the kit, throne, sticks, headphones and the works in one deal, and it arrives at your door. Save up a bit more and get a Roland would be my advice.

Also, you can do lots of rudiments and sticking on your practice pad, no loud noise obviously.

This is the one I have.

It's great and the price has come down to €599 on Thomann. Perfect for a complete beginner like I was but if you live above another flat or want to put the kit upstairs in a house, there will still be problems for the people below.

Yeah I was giving that one a good look and it sounds pretty decent after inspection of a few youtube videos.

Cheers for the advice lads.
