Page 4 of 4 At the moment, the focus for the band is getting the new
two-track cd ready, and putting together gigs under the Cleft Palate
Records (CPR) name. There's also the continuing focus on being an
independent band who do their own thing and do it well. "I don't think
we started off independent – we just started off practising and
playing," says Paul. "Me personally, I just get angry to see bands,
especially Dublin bands who have signed up to PR companies, and
management companies and are doing all these things…" "Treading a well
worn path," offers Cadwell.
"I think as well, the independent thing comes from you know… We're all
pretty headstrong people, and we know what we want and we know what we
don't want," sums up Rachel. "And I find it, personally speaking, I
find it very hard to be bossed around. I don't like people telling me
what to do – I like to tell people what to do! I find it very hard to
take someone else going 'you have to do this, you have to do this', you
have to wear this, or you have to go there. I think it came from that
more than anything else. I don't think anyone should have to pay to be
on the radio or pay to be on television – I just think that's wrong"
"I think we're just independent by default," says Paul. "We're not
sticking to guidelines, it's just what we want to do – if we can do it,
we'll do it."
Above all, the key to Brian Cullen's Love Bullets' approach to making
music is friendship, and a similar focus when creating and recording
music. Says Rachel: "I think we all pull together and I think it works
– it really does work. Again, going back to being good friends for
years has really, really helped us."
