HALFSET (elusive recordings)
DJ MOONER (compost, erkrankung durch musique)
SARSPARILLA (alphabet set)
MICI & DARREN (maximum joy)
We welcome back two of our
favourite acts to da joy. HALFSET are on the cusp of releasing their
second album and early reports suggest that it's a remarkable body of
work which should see them climb to greater heights. This will be their
first show of 2007.
DJ MOONER has also seen his profile rise since he played Maximum Joy last November thanks to the release of the Slow Motion Disco
compilation on Elaste Records late last year. His set was a thing of
beauty mixing Krautrock with cosmic disco. He even had the kahunas to
encore with experimental psych classic 'Oscillations' by SILVER APPLES. Score!!
Also we welcome SARSPARILLA
for the first time. This synth maestro creates wondrous electronic
music that these ears never tire of. Check out his myspace and listen
for yourself.
And as ever keeping it all in line will be Maximum Joy DJ's Mici & Darren…

HALFSET
HALFSET are an
electronic quartet featuring Stephen Shannon (producer/engineer), Jeff
Martin (who has released two solo albums to date), Cillian Mc Donnell
(formerly of JUBILEE ALLSTARS and electro act HIDDEN FORTRESS) and
Sinead Nic Gearailt.
Originally conceived as a studio project to record
one song, the dynamic worked so well that the band decided to rise to
the challenge of taking their complicated set-up to a live audience.
They employ an unusual combination of programmed beats and live
instruments - including vocals, drums/percussion, guitars,
glockenspiel, harp, trumpet, mandola and old analog synths. HALFSET
have played across the country and have performed with many of their
contemporaries including - Pulse Programming (Vertical Forms), TELEFON
TELAVIV (Hefty Records) and FINGATHING (Grand Central).
HALFSET released their critically acclaimed debut
album "Dramanalog" in April 2005 on Elusive Recordings (home of JIMMY
BEHAN and the Eklectra compilations). Produced, engineered and mixed by
the band themselves, it took no less than 3 years to complete. However
unlikely as it sounds their second album is almost complete, tracks of
which are being previewed live to rapturous acclaim.

DJ MOONER
MOONER has been running his label, "Erkrankung durch Musique", since 2000.
He has also taken part in Ponk-Rock project 'Club le Bomb', since the success with ZOMBIE NATION (and massive club track Kernkraft 400),
a less commercial project that happened at an illegal location beneath
the city of Munich in an abandoned underground water powerplant.
Also HART OF NOISE (with Generation Aldi-man
Bülent Kullukcu) was a cutting edge project between Art, Music and
Pranksterism , an irony of the big names in the Techno-Biz. The project
climaxed in a liveshow at a Cocoon party where about 500 Kgs of Food
and electronic trash were thrown into the audience.
ZOMBOCOMBO, with Polly Ester (of Kamerakino, ...)
and KITT Bang is the current occupation and longtime project – monthly
events at Munich´s club "Registratur", where they throw parties with
music, clothes and shows that go along with crazy mottos.
His label, Erkrankung, features debut works of
artists such as Steril, Hong Kong Counterfeit, Queen of Japan, The
Magnificents, Mix Mup, Vostok, Nicolas Courtin, Auto, Acid Boy Chair,
... Many of these records had been setting new genres, mostly years
ahead of the time Commodore sounds, Elektro-Punk, "Elektroclash", or
the Acid-revival.
Mooner´s further influences on his unique DJ
mixing style relate to his Mom´s psychedelic record selection, the
widespread interest of music by 70ties north-Italian Cosmic Music
scene. Also he was one of the first DJs to buy an iPod for "pro" use,
filled with obscure B-sides and demo versions.

SARSPARILLA
SARSPARILLA was raised in a
small synth community in the green mountains of Wicklow. He soon found
their small town ways oppressive and formed an escape plan with his
then mentor, JOHN CARPENTER. These men promptly escaped into the Dublin
underground, soon master carpenter moved to the US, but SARSPARILLA
stayed in Ireland to forge his own distinctive synthesized soundscapes.
Utilizing the techniques master carpenter had taught him and building
upon them, he has crafted his own sound that is nothing short of
extraordinary!
