the following email arrived from gzcd today:

I have one question concerning the label artwork - you wrote you wanted
Pantone blue colour, but have not stated which one - can you specify that
according to Pantone scale?

Pantone Reflex blue U ( darker ), Pantone Process blue U ( lighter ) or
Pantone Blue 072 U ( darker ) or other blues?

so, what's the difference? are these descriptions of three completely different blues or just slight variations?

i want the blue to be the print equivalent of a certain hexadecimal blue colour; gonna go off and find the hex value of that now in case it'll be any help.

i think it's #003366, though i'm not sure; will get it when i go home.

they be three different blues

process Blue, process blue is pure blue, like vivd sky blue

Reflex and 072 are quite navy like, I think
Reflex is quite nice, think Ballygowan's blue

what i need is the second-from-bottom background colour of this page:

http://www.annabella.net/color/color24.html

if you can't find it, do a search for text on the page for "003366".

that's the blue i want. only i want it in the middle of a record, not on a screen in front of me.

so...

which one of the pantone yokes is my colour?

Easy? Look at all the pretty colours - that's pure hell that is.

in the end i just said to use the darkest of the three colours offered. i think that's ok.
