Strange Brew presents GIRL BAND & Spies
Thursday October 9th, 9pm, Free
Currently laying a significant claim to being the best live band in Ireland, it's been quite a while since anything has come by with as much raw energy and intensity as Girl Band. Their live shows are simply stunning - getting to see them now is a blessing as their star is set to ascend into THE HEAVENS. For free? Holy shit, right? Don't miss them.
They formed in late 2011 with influences ranging from bands and acts such as Bad Brains, Swell Maps, James Chance and the Contortions, Neu, The Birthday Party, Ben Frost and a lot of minimal techno. Girl Band structure their songs with sparse, shouty vocals, over intense noise textures and soundscapes which develop around repetitive groves. Their live show is known for being loud, intense and energetic.
