Bootleg Promotions are proud to announce the return of O Emperor to
the Pavilion on Thursday 13th August. Adm €5 doors @9:30 support on
the night from At Last An Atlas.
O Emperor have been riding high of late on a massive serge in public
and critical acclaim. Just this July the band took the headline slot
on the Hot Press New Band Stage at the Oxegen Festival.
This was a momentous and prestigious slot to be granted considering the
international calibre of the acts performing at the weekend, which
included Kings of Leon, Blur, Nick Cave, Snow Petrol and many more.
In past years such, now massive selling artists, have debuted on the
infamous New Band Stage with the likes of The White Stripes, Killers,
Razorlight, Super Fury Animals and Lilly Allen to name but a few. This
was testament as to the faith in which the organizers had for O
Emperor to progress forward and become a huge attraction in the coming
year.
Here's what Hot Press Magazine had to say about the band in their
recent "Guide to Oxegen" special;
"Gentle and delicate songs, guided by intricate urgently-picked guitar,
grinding electric lines,expansive piano playing, some electronic
tomfoolery, and wonderfully harmonised vocals- there’s a
straightforward sincerity to the music of O Emperor .
Sounding a little like the Beach Boys, The Band, and The Smiths being
digested by a cannibalistic Lee Mavers from the La’s, O Emperor
haven’t even released an album yet and they’re already better than
many decades-old bands I could mention."
Following on from the Oxegen gig, the band will release their debut
single PO at the end of July and their debut album Hither
Thither,already tipped to be one of the standouts of the year , at the
start of October.
An extensive Irish tour throughout September and October is planned so
