THE DUKE SPIRIT

Support: EXIT THE STREET
Doors: 9pm Tickets: €10
"Raw, wired & bursting with energy....10/10" - NME
For those of you not yet familiar with The Duke Spirit.....for shame!!!!
Signed to Universal's Loog records (home of The Bravery), they are managed by the same people who brought you Keane and The Concretes.Fronted by the striking Leila Moss, this London-based five-piece blend a Velvet Underground-esque dirge with a jagged, contemporary sensibility. Like The Kills, The Raveonettes, Royal Trux and Sonic Youth, they’ve got the horny girl/boy thing going on. Liela Moss has got "it" by the truckload - she’s like Nico, only with the welcome addition of Debbie Harry’s strut.
How many times did you curse yourself that you didn't go to see Nirvana when they played Cork? Well this could be your chance to make amends, as The Duke Spirit are going to be huge!

Fri 3rd June
MICAH P HINSON
+ OLLIE COLE (Turn) + CLIVE BARNES

Doors: 9pm Tickets: €10
MICAH P HINSON
Texan Micah P Hinson is, along with the likes of Ray Lamontagne, Devandra Banhart and Joanna Newsom, at the forefront of the new wave of Americana. He is single-handedly making folk music cool once again.
Having proved himself across the pond, Micah has started to make waves on this side of the Altlantic, landing himself a spot in Uncut Magazine's Top 30 albums of 2004.

OLLIE COLE
The lead singer, songwriter and guitarist with one of Ireland's best indie bands, TURN makes a special appearance in Cork giving a sneak preview of what to expect off the new album.
CLIVE BARNES
One thinks perhaps of Ry Cooder, JJ Cale, Kelly Joe Phelps and old blues, jazz and bluegrass players. An amazing guitarist (who plays lap slide-guitar) as anyone who has seen him recently on tour with Rodrigo Y Gabriela will testify.

Sat 4th June
MARK EITZEL (American Music Club)

+ Special Guest: Joe Brack
Doors: 8pm Tickets: €10
As both a solo artist and the frontman for enduring cult favorites American Music Club, Mark Eitzel established himself among the truly powerful forces in contemporary music; a hauntingly evocative singer, he earned even greater notoriety for his brilliance as a composer, combining the energy of punk, the pastoral beauty of folk, and the melodrama of lounge music to build one of the most impressive and darkly poetic bodies of songs in the modern pop canon
After fronting American Music Club since 1985, garnering endless “Album of the Year” and “Songwriter of the Year” accolades from magazines such as Rolling Stone and Spin, Eitzel went on to a critically successful solo career.
For the uninitiated, Mark Eitzel is a songwriter and musician admired by a diverse array of artists, from Joni Mitchell to Tricky, Polly Harvey to Elton John, Elvis Costello to Stephin Merritt, Sheryl Crow to Ryan Adams, to name just a few. An Eitzel tribute album, Come On Beautiful, was released in October 2000, with tracks by Calexico, Lambchop and others. Live renditions of Eitzel songs have also been performed by bands including The Divine Comedy, Everything But The Girl and The Indigo Girls.

Sun 5th June
TRASHCAN SINATRAS

Support: PLAYTOH
Doors: 9pm Tickets: €10
"Imagine Travis with better lyrics and better melodies" - Sunday Mail
Scottish indie-pop stalwarts the Trash Can Sinatras were founded outside of Glasgow in 1987 by singer/guitarist Frank Reader (the brother of ex-Fairground Attraction singer Eddi Reader).
Since then, they have become recognised as one of the best Scottish groups of all-time, being recently voted ahead of the likes of Eurythmics, Biffy Clyro, Beta Band, Aztec Camera, Orange Juice, Nazareth, Arab Strap, and Delgados
The new record "Weightlifting" (their first album since 1996) follows a period of inactivity brought on by the collapse of their previous record company. The band cemented their return by performing at the prestigious SOUTH BY SOUTH WEST music industry convention this year, at which “BILLBOARD”, the USA’s music business’ leading magazine, had them as one of the top ten acts.

Mon 6th June
BRITISH SEA POWER
Special Guests: SONS & DAUGHTERS

Doors: 9pm Tickets: €15
BRITISH SEA POWER
One of the most interesting acts to emerge from across the water in the past few years, you ain't seen nothing until you've seen BSP live. Last year's notorious Glastonbury performance featured on-stage foliage, an inter-band ruckus and a man in a bear suit.
Their new album "Open Season" has been praised by everyone from The Guardian to The Sun, the NME to MOJO. The Independent, The Sunday Times and The Independent On Sunday all awarded Open Season a maximum 5/5, while The Guardian, NME and Daily Mirror all made the record their album of the week.

SONS & DAUGHTERS
Former members of legendary Scottish band, ARAB STRAP, whose debut mini-album has had people begging for more of their dark, country-tinged rock.
