Banks open on Good Friday?

    Banks have never opened on Good Friday.

    oh man, i remember when i was on my j1 in ny i was absolutely skint one week, rang home begging for some money. my dad was like, ill wire you the money on tues, tomorrows a bank holiday. i genuinely asked him if the banks were really closed that day.

    nor is it a public holiday.

    I dunno - seems to be a traditional thing.

    When I was a young lad Good Friday was next to Christmas Day for places being shut. The only place open might be the odd corner shop or garage - everywhere else shut down. Things have changed since then but the banks remain closed.
